No Escape In Death -- Genesis 47:29

NO ESCAPE IN DEATH

GENESIS 47:29

"And the time drew nigh that Israel must die."

The older we become, the more we realize that God’s Word is true when it says that it is appointed unto man that he or she must die. It is the final event in everyone’s life. We cannot escape it. We cannot practice for it. There can be no dress rehearsal. May I be so close to the Lord, that when my death comes, I will slip to the other side in peace. I do not want to make a scene. But we cannot know what death does to us, nor how we will behave.

From all I have been told by those who were there, I believe David, our son, though in pain, went HOME quickly, bravely, and welcoming his final end. His breath was taken from him--that holy "life-breath" that had been passed down to him from Adam’s day to us in this century. My mother had a failing-end with days of departing--not month upon month and years. My father died instantly in his wheel chair in his yard.

May God be gracious to you and me in death. It is all part of that "unknown future.’" We wonder what Heaven will be like. What joy it be to see Jesus! "Not my will, but Thine be done! " (ysw)

"I AM HELPED"

(Psalm 28:7)

The Lord is my strength and my shield.

My heart trusted in Him and I am helped.

Therefore, my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song will I praise Him.

Since He is our shield and defense in this life, and our strength for the day’s battle,

we grieve the heart of God when we try to defend and sustain our self.

Rejoicing and song come only from a heart which is helped by trusting in Him. (GGS)

And Sarah heard it in the tent door, which was behind him. And they said unto him, Where is Sarah thy wife? And he said, Behold, in the tent. And he said, I will certainly return unto thee according to the time of life; and, lo, Sarah thy wife shall have a son. (Genesis 18:10)
